Industrial Water Purification

Industrial RO Plant

An industrial RO plant combines pretreatment, high-pressure membrane separation and monitoring to produce water for process, utility or other industrial requirements.

  • 50–500,000 LPH
  • Pretreatment and RO
  • Process-water production
  • Industrial reverse-osmosis membrane system with high-pressure pumps

    Industrial reverse-osmosis process

Hydraulic pressure is applied to the feed-water side of a semi-permeable membrane. Water passes through as permeate while a larger share of the dissolved ionic material remains in the concentrate stream.

The membrane array, pressure and recovery are determined by the raw-water chemistry, temperature, production requirement and target product-water quality.

    Pretreatment and membrane protection

Industrial systems may include multimedia filtration, activated carbon, softening, antiscalant dosing, dechlorination, ultrafiltration and micron cartridges. The purpose is to control fouling, scaling and chemical damage before water reaches the RO membranes.

A cleaning-in-place arrangement is provided where membrane cleaning needs to be carried out without dismantling the pressure vessels.

    System options

    • Single-pass and multi-pass RO
    • Brackish-water membrane systems
    • Ultrafiltration or microfiltration pretreatment
    • UV treatment and final disinfection
    • Automatic flushing and cleaning connections
    • PLC controls and instrument monitoring
    • Treated-water tanks and distribution pumps
    • Skid-mounted or site-integrated construction

    Capacity range

The supplied Pure Waters reference presents industrial RO systems from 50 to 500,000 litres per hour. Final output is confirmed against feed-water quality, recovery, operating hours and the required availability.

    Industrial applications

    • Process-water production
    • Boiler and cooling-water pretreatment
    • Food and beverage utilities
    • Pharmaceutical and laboratory support water
    • Manufacturing rinse water
    • Commercial and institutional water purification
    • Further polishing of suitably treated recycled water

    Monitoring and operation

Pressure, flow, conductivity and differential pressure are monitored to assess plant condition. Pretreatment, membrane cleaning and reject-water management are included in the operating plan.
